Lovely
(108147941)

We recieved a very warm welcome, and were given helpful instructions on how to get around, including a map!

I'm very fussy with meat, and believe the breakfast could've been slightly better quality (use a local butcher instead of the cash and carry guys!)
Alan from Warrington, GB (Group of work colleagues) 21 October 2009
Excellent facilities at a reasonable cost. An added bonus which you seldom get in B and B`s was the communal room were friends could gather to talk. All in all a great experience . I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The standard of the accommodation was excellent extemely clean well furnished
and very friendly staff

We really enjoyed our stay, how homely the place was and was also very close to the city centre and amenities.
(108513971)

The room was lovely and staff were vey welcoming and helpful. It was a very homely place and was nice to see there were all kinds of facilities including the internet and also toys for the children to play in. Definately one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in.

Local to cambridge and friendly staff, good selection of breakfast. Great place as a stop over base, as in somewhere to leave luggage and sleep over to visit local sites
(108461605)

The staff Anna and owner Michelle were very nice and helpful

cold water and shower, they did move me to a larger room but due to personal reasons had difficulties sharing a bathroom with a male guest
Anonymous (Same sex couple) 24 August 2009
Had I been in a different room I think I would have been perfectly satisfied
(108697233)

Clearly a lot of effort had been put into supplying guests with information and facilities to make their stay enjoyable. The B and B was clean. The self check in was a good idea. breakfast was good. Easily walkable to city centre. Good bus routes.

The single room I was in smelt of damp, this spoilt the stay for me,I am not sure that it was fair to let this room out, although it was cheaper than some other places in cambridge. I believe this was just my part of the building and the rest of the building was probably not damp.
Stephen from Bicester, GB (Solo leisure traveller) 04 August 2009
Very good experience and would certainly stay at the Iceni again.

Clean. Cheap.

Pretty basic. Not good sound-proofing between rooms.
Andreas from Kösching, DE (Mature couple) 15 July 2009
Surely we will come to Iceni House again next year
(107706729)

Friendly staff, very good check-in procedure, close to the city of Cambridge
Anonymous (Same sex couple) 06 July 2009
OK, a good standard. Quite expensive, but perhaps because in Cambridge during high season.
(107881180)

Room was clean, well decorated. Most helpful responses from the mother of the owner when I needed to telephone to ask details of possible booking changes. Good breakfast with friendly service.

Not really 'bad' - the room was just large enough to move around the beds.
Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller) 05 July 2009
Excellent value for money Would stay here again. Reasonable walk into town centre (about 30/40 minutes)
(107311612)

So many thoughtful extra touches. 24 hour check in service very well organised. Key to crockery cupboard in kitchen so you could bring a meal in. Fan provided in bedroom. Small fridge in bedroom. Water macine in kitchen. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

None come to mind. Perhaps limited parking, but that determined by position and location of hotel.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 24 June 2009
Excellent accommodation for seeing Cambridge, and excellent hosts well worth their 4****.

It was a comfortable stay. Although the parking area was limited, I was fortunate in being able to park my car off-road. The self-check-in system worked well so far as I was concerned.
(107864243)

It was a comfortable B&B and the proprietors were friendly and caring. Iceni House is well kept and the instructions on how to find it were accurate and helpful.

There were no bad points so far as I was concerned.
Anonymous (Family with older children) 04 March 2009
I'll recommend this to my friends.
(107482015)

The staff are friendly. The room is clean and tidy. The breakfast is excellent.

The room is a bit small for three of us.

Excellent - would use the Iceni again
(107388589)

Everything was really clean and the owners were very helpful with local knowledge etc.

The only bad point was that we arrived at 1530, on a very cold day, and the heating wasn't on and it took a while to warm up.
Anonymous (Group of adult friends) 04 November 2008
loved the fact I could use the kitchen for taka way food,
(107433857)

Great value very clean

Further from town than I thought from the description, but not a real problem

A lovely and cosy B&B were we stayed in the Country Garden Room which was situated to the front of the property. It was very clean, quaint and well decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and staff were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast room was bright and sunny and with an array of continental and cooked options.
We are sure to visit again.
(107894236)

Cosy, warm room & comfortable bed.
Though a little way from the City Centre there is frequent bus service to the city centre.
Staff very attentive and friendly.

Bit more soundprrofing required as we could hear guests from above.
Overall the breakfast was good but the mushrooms were a bit undercooked.
Anonymous (Young couple) 28 October 2008
Very good - would stay there again - and I'm a bit picky with hotels!!
(107367978)

Very friendly staff, good food. They had a self-check in facility if you arrived after 1pm which could have been handy if we were running late.

Our room could have done with a lick of paint but it was clean and tidy.

Charles from Brandon, FL, US (Same sex couple) 07 October 2008
Considering crowded, very heavy traffic in Cambridge, this was an excellent
all around choice that we enjoyed very much. Would not concider anything else for a future stay in Cambridge.
(107232982)

Best Shower of our two week trip, Good breakfasts, very clean. Comfortable beds,Gracious hosts.

Had to check in too early, requiring going there before going to museums at
Duxford, in order to avoid 3.5% surcharge on a Credit Card registration.
Parking crowded for handicapped senior and son.

The Iceni is a functional and decent place to stay, but for weekend break treats, it doesn't add anything to the indulgence.
(108046962)

Comfortable bed and breakfast was good. WiFi worked well. All staff encountered were friendly.

I got the impression it was less of a walk in to the town centre than it actually was (45 mins). I also got the impression that it was more of a traditional hotel, rather than a relatively modern estate type residence that had been converted.
Debora from Purley, GB (Young couple) 26 August 2008
The place was lovely, the self check-in was excellent and it was a nice distance from Cambridge. Breakfast was very good and the whole B & B was very proffesional and still friendly.
(107105491)

Room was very clean and it was very peaceful. The seperate pation area for our room was fab. It was good to have a proper kitchen and living room if we had needed it.

Anonymous (Mature couple) 19 June 2008
Ok but could be stressful if you were trying to get in there late at night
(97394959)

Clean room. Comforatable bed. Good breakfast.

Difficult to get in and out of hotel due to very stiff door and poor lock. Extremely small room with no where to put full length clothes, toiletries or suitcases. Tiny sink so it was impossible to wash my hair.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 30 May 2008
The staff are very warm, friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was good.
(97741422)

The level of sound insulation was very poor and the sounds of people walking round in the room above was disturbing as the floors creaked every time it was stepped on.
The actual room was very cramped

I was not involved by the booking website of the check in procedure, needing to have a code to unlock a door to receive you keys to get into the bed and breakfast. This caused major issues.
(97091426)

My room was cold and did not warm up even with the heater on.

Room design

Breakfast, Freezing at nights, no duvet or spare blanket
Anonymous (Group of adult friends) 07 November 2007
The house was very cosy. The rooms were just what we expected (not too large, yet not too small). Everything in our room was fully functioning. Staff members were extremely helpful, especially in providing us with directions to the City Center.
The only criticism I could provide is that the bed was too springy and made a lot of noise if you moved - slightly disruptive, but nothing unbearable. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would go back. Breakfast was wonderful!
